Welcome to The Miami Bike Shop
A Message from the Owner
I went to school at the University of Florida and while attending school I started racing and wrenching (doing mechanical work) on mountain bikes. After graduating with a degree in nutritional science I began to DJ and also began to engineer (record) music. This is what brought me to Miami in 1999 where I started my own business recording music. A few years into my stay in Miami, I broke my bike and never fixed it. I put it into storage and didn’t take it out for 3 years. Then one day, while entrenched in my music business, I was sitting in a lawn chair on my balcony and began to think how I wanted ride my bike again and do something more related to exercise and healthy living. I began to talk to my friend about what I wanted to do and he told me that there were no bike shops in the downtown area of Miami. Follow us on Google+
He rode bikes and lived in the area and said he wished he had a shop he could go to that was close to his house (in Belle Meade). He had just recently sold his music business that was located in South Beach. We talked about joining up and starting a combination bike/scooter shop. Parking is difficult and traffic is very congested in Miami and since bikes and scooters can get you through that, we figured the two complimented each other very well. When the road construction on Biscayne Blvd stifled the growth of the business, I was able to buy my partner out and I have since changed the name to The Miami Bike Shop so I can focus on what I know best Bicycles! When I decided to get back onto the bike, I was reminded of all the things riding a bike gives me. Riding keeps me fit and at a good weight. Also, because of it, I have met a lot of people who ride bikes; they are all great, positive people too. I use cycling as a stress relief and this is what I promote in the community. But beyond just riding, I also got back into racing mountain and road bikes. With my nutritional science background, I have learned how to eat properly and it has helped my performance. I have also worked with others teaching them the tricks of nutrition that help you ride, look and feel better. My expertise appeals to both mountain bike and road racers. Yet, I also cater to the needs of commuters and people who just want to ride their bikes for fun. Bikes are good for everyone, whether it is as a racer, a commuter or someone who just wants to exercise for health and fun.
